Welcome to Strange Coupling! A longstanding UW tradition, StrangeCo is an exciting opportunity for UW students to collaborate 1-on-1 with established Seattle artists.

Applications are due December 18th at midnight (deadline extended), with a final selection made in early January. Following the final selection we will be having an announcement party at Rodrigo Valenzuela's house (date tbd). This will mark the start of your collaborations. We are hoping to provide you with 2 months of time to collaborate. The final exhibit will be displayed at Charlie Schuck's Belltown Studio. The show will open on a Thursday in late March and run through the weekend. We look forward to seeing you all at the Fundraiser - December 14th at 7pm at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery. Capitalizing on the strong art community in the Seattle area, Strange Coupling was formed in 2002 to establish a meaningful connection between local artists and current UW students. The collaboration of eight "Couples" (paired student and local artists) culminates in an exhibition in April 2012.
This years coupling process will be juried by The Strange Co. Organizers with the help of Catharina Manchanda, Director of Modern Art at SAM, and Kris Anderson, Director of the Jacob Lawrence Gallery.
